10-3 Installation of Absolute Position System
ABSOLUTE POSITION SYSTEM

ABS Encoder Setting
To use ABS encoder, Install lithium battery with battery case (SV-B1) and set up absolute position system parameters,
then set up ABS encoder.
ABS encoder should be set in the following conditions.
• When "*Encoder backup need ABS setup" alarm (810) occurs
• When "*Encoder error 0 need ABS setup" alarm (820) occurs
• To set multi-turn data of ABS encoder to 0
When absolute position system is used, if ABS encoder is set up, then multi-turn data will be changed,
resulting in unexpected machine operations such as a dramatic rise of speed.
ABS encoder is set up via Access Window, KV-ML/MC setting tool (KV MOTION+) as well as SV series setting
software. After setting is ended, always restart the power supply, or restart servo amplifier.
■ Setting with Access Window
1 Press " " key.
The main menu will be displayed.
2 Press the " " and " " key to select "4.Alarm", then press the " " key
to display submenu.
3 Press the " " key/" " key to select "2.ABS Setup", then press the " " key.
4 Press " " key (for more than 1 second) to set up the absolute encoder.
After ABS encoder is set, restart the power supply, or restart servo amplifier.
