4-1 Wiring Precautions
Wiring Precautions
Please abide by the following precautions when wiring.
Wiring shall be done by professional technicians.
Wiring can be done only 5min after powering off and confirming that CHARGE LED indicator in
front of servo amplifier is OFF. Otherwise risks, such as electrical shock, may be caused.
Servo amplifier and servo motor must be grounded. Otherwise risks, such as electrical
shock, may be caused.
Wiring must be conducted after servo motor is installed. Otherwise risks, such as
electrical shock, may
be caused
.
No scratch on cable! Don't drag, place heavy load over or extrude cable! Otherwise risks,
such as electrical shock, may result.
Wiring must be correct. Otherwise it may result in out-of-control for servo motor or personal injury.
In order to prevent electric shock, the protective ground terminal of servo amplifier must
be connected with the protective ground wire of the control panel.
Don't open terminal cover with power-on. Otherwise, electric shock may be caused.
Terminal connection shall be free from any error. Otherwise it may result in breaking and damage, etc.
The direction of diode for absorbing the surge voltage installed on DC relay of control
output shall be free from error. Otherwise it will have fault and can't output signal, or can't
execute operation for protecting circuit e.g. forced stop, etc.
Cables specified in operation instructions and manuals must be used.
There are no grounding protection circuits inside servo amplifiers. Be sure to install
residual current circuit breaker with overload and short-circuit protection functions,
install residual current circuit breaker for grounding protection by combining with circuit
breaker for wiring.
Servo amplifiers have not been insulated through transformers, so be sure to use circuit
breaker for wiring or fuses.
Do not frequently power ON/OFF the servo amplifier. Otherwise this may result in aging of
main circuit components inside servo amplifiers.
Electromagnetic influence may be applied on electronic equipment used near the servo
amplifier. Be sure to use noise filter, etc.
Power capacitors and surge suppressor cannot be used with power cables of servo motors.
Be sure to
use abnormal signals to cut the power off
when
a generative resistor is used.
Failure in transistor, etc. may cause abnormal high temperature in regenerative resistor, hence fire.
For I/O connector and encoder cables, be sure to use shielded twisted pair or multi-core
shielded twisted pair.
Wiring lengths are as follows:
I/O connector cable : max. 3m
Encoder cable : max. 50m
Motor power cable : max. 50m
Main/control circuit power cables, cables for I/O connector and encoder cables can not be
installed in one wiring duct or bundled together. There must be a gap more than 30cm
between each cable from another.
Be sure to adopt D-grounding (with grounding resistance below 100Ω).
For main/control circuit power cables, be sure to use heavy cables as much as possible
(above 2.00m
2
).
Be sure to use single-point grounding.
When between servo motor and equipment, the servo motor insulation is conducted can
be connected directly to ground.
Do not bend or apply tension on the signal cables.
Cable for I/O signals must be a shielded cable, the two ends of which should be
connected to ground, when "*command pulse input filter" (POS_07) is set to "Line driver
signal (4Mpps)".
