Description
Connecting the motor connection cable shield at the Motor Module and at the motor
• Connect the motor connection cable shield at the Motor Module and at the motor through
a large surface area.
Using a mounting plate
• To maintain EMC limit values of the drive line-up, ensure that all components are on a
common bare metal mounting plate.
• Connect the mounting plate to the protective conductor connection of the control cabinet
through a low impedance.
The mounting plate simultaneously serves as functional equipotential bonding surface. This
means that no additional functional equipotential bonding is required within the drive line-
up. If a common, bare metal mounting plate is not available, then an equally good function
equipotential bonding must be available. This must be implemented using conductor cross-
sections used for protective connections, or as a minimum, with the same conductivity
value. More information on the cable cross-sections can be found in Chapter "Conductor
cross-section for protective connections (Page70)".
Mounting components on DIN rails
When mounting components on DIN rails, the connection cross-sections specied in the
technical data for the particular component apply. If smaller conductor cross-sections are
permissible for components, the largest cross-section must be used, e.g. 6mm
2
for TM31
and/or SMC. These requirements also apply to distributed components located outside the
control cabinet.
PROFIBUS
No functional equipotential bonding conductors are required for PROFIBUS inside a control
cabinet. For PROFIBUS connections between dierent buildings or parts of buildings,
a functional equipotential bonding must be routed in parallel to the PROFIBUS cable.
The following minimum conductor cross-sections must be observed in accordance with
IEC60364‑5‑54:
• Copper 6mm
2
• Aluminum 16mm
2
• Steel 50mm
