266Service Manual – CS7010™ 42 - Sweep System, Main
Main Broom Motor Carbon Brushes
You have the option of completing this procedure with the motor mounted to the machine, or removing the
motor and completing this on a bench. The procedure is the same, and it is just a matter of which method is
more convenient for you.
1. Remove the mounting screw that secures the
broom motor access panel to the machine frame,
and slide it back off the mounting pins to remove
the panel.
2. Optional: Remove the Broom Motor described on
page 265.
3. Remove the two nuts that secure the fan cover to
the back of the motor, and remove the cover.
4. Regardless whether the motor was removed or
not, create witness marks between the motor
casing and both top and bottom end bells
(covers). These will be used during reassembly to
ensure the motor casing is rotated correctly.
5. The fan impeller is held on with a starlock
retainer (push nut). These are not normally
intended to be removed, and will likely be
destroyed in the process.
Using a pair of screwdrivers to maintain even
lifting, pry under the fan impeller to drive the
starlock retaining ring off the shaft. Discard
the retaining ring, and replace with a fresh ring
during assembly.
Important: Take care to not break the small
alignment pins on the impeller that engage
the starlock retainer. These are what drive the
impeller.
