945.00 HCF unit media tray lift failure
Step Check Yes No
1 Check sensor (HCF media level) for proper operation.
1. Enter Diagnostics mode.
2. Select INPUT TRAY TESTS.
3. Select Sensor Tests.
4. Select Tray 5.
5. Select Media level.
Pull the HCF unit from the printer.
Open the HCF top door assembly.
Open the HCF feed unit assembly, and move the pick
roll in an up and down motion. Avoid touching the
rubber roll surface.
Does the display on the operator panel change every
time the sensing area is blocked on the above sensor?
Go to step 9. Go to step 2.
2 Check the sensor (HCF media level) for proper
connection.
Is the above sensor connected properly?
Does the display on the operator panel change every
time the sensing area is blocked on the above sensor?
Replace the sensor
(media level).
Go to “HCF sensor
(media level)
removal” on
page 4-139.
Replace the
connection.
3 Check the HCF pick solenoid for proper operation.
Perform a print test from tray 5.
Does the HCF pick solenoid operate properly?
Go to step 5. Go to step 4.
4 Check the HCF pick solenoid for proper connection.
Is the above component connected properly?
Replace the HCF
pick solenoid.
Go to “HCF pick

page 4-136.
Replace the
connection.
5 Check the HCF feed unit cable assembly for proper
connection.
Is the above cable assembly connected properly?
Go to step 6. Replace the
connection.
6 Check the HCF feed lift motor for proper operation.
Pull out the media tray, then push it back in.
Does the tray lift properly?
Go to step 8. Go to step 7.
7 Check the HCF feed lift motor for proper connection.
Is the above motor connected properly?
Replace the HCF
feed lift motor.
Go to “HCF feed lift

page 4-132.
Replace the
connection.
8 Perform a print test.
Does the error still occur?
Replace the HCF
controller card
assembly.
Go to “HCF
controller card
assembly removal”
on page 4-152.
Go to step 9.
