The Analyzer Module
How to Collect Standard Vibration Measurements
The Variable sensor option allows you to configure settings for a
sensor that is not on the sensor list.
Sensor Units – (Not editable if a preconfigured sensor is selected in the Sensor field.)
When the Variable sensor is selected, select the measurement units to use for the type
of sensor being used. Options include g, in/s, mil, V, psi, lbf, A, and mil.
Sensitivity – (Not editable if a preconfigured sensor is selected in the Sensor field.)
When the Variable sensor is selected, use the alphanumeric keypad to enter transducer
sensitivity in millivolts (mV) per Engineering Unit (EU).
ICP Supply – On or Off, (Not editable if a preconfigured sensor is selected in the
Sensor field.) When the Variable sensor is selected, select to turn ICP power Off or On
for the sensor.
View Signal – From the drop down list, specify the format in which to display the
measured signal. Options are Spectrum, Time, Spectrum+Time, or Spectrum &
Phase.
For phase measurements, connect a sensor similar to the one
connected to CH1 to the Microlog’s CH2 connector.
Y-axis units – Derives the measurement type and units. Options vary depending on
the previous Sensor Units setting.
If Y-axis units is set to gE, then the previous View Signal option
should be set to Spectrum. If View Signal is set to Spectrum
and Phase, invalid gE data occurs.
X – axis units (Hz or CPM), Specify frequency units for graphic displays. Note that the
specified X-axis units setting determines frequency units for subsequent setup fields.
Filter / gE Band – As determined by the Y-axis units setting, the drop-down list
displays two types of filter settings, high-pass filter settings and enveloper band pass
filter settings. The Microlog’s real analog high-pass filter affects both the time and FFT
domains.
The Microlog’s high-pass filter filters the time domain with a real
analog filter, which attenuates based on the selected value.
• When setting up a measurement other than an enveloped acceleration
measurement. The range for normal measurements is from approximately 200
CPM to 600 CPM, or the equivalent in Hz.
• With enveloped acceleration measurements, the enveloping process automatically
performs a low frequency cut off.
Freq Range (Fmax)– Use the drop down list to specify the FFT upper full-scale
frequency, up to 80,000 Hz (4,800,000 CPM) for single and 2 channel measurements,
40,000Hz (2,400,000cpm) for 3 and 4 channel measurements.
The Freq Range setting may be entered from the numeric keypad
if the Setup / Filter Entry / Free Entry setting is selected.
Display Y-axis – (Linear, Logarithmic, or dB) Specify the type of y-axis scaling.
If dB is selected for the Y-axis display, additional dB Reference and dB Ref
Units fields display.
