23.5 SkyView Displays Error: SYS EVENT 5: SEE SETUP
System Event 5 indicates that the SkyView display's internal Solid State Disk (SSD) is
experiencing an abnormal number of errors, and thus should be replaced. This feature
was added to help detect units that may have potential problems with rebooting in flight
or possible screen freezes.
The repair of the internal SSD can only be performed at the Dynon Avionics factory.
Repair of SkyView displays for System Event 5 is considered a Warranty Repair,
regardless of whether your SkyView display’s warranty is still in effect, or has expired. To
arrange for a Return Material Authorization (RMA) for repair of your SkyView display for
System Event 5, contact Dynon Avionics Technical Support (contact information at the
beginning of this manual).
Before removing your SkyView display to ship to Dynon Avionics, please perform the
following procedure to save a backup of your most important settings. You will need a
USB flash drive (memory stick) - capacity of 1 GB is adequate, available inexpensively at
most office supply and grocery stores. We recommend that you save these files to a USB
flash drive not used for anything else.
1. Manually record your HOBBS and TACH time, as these two (2) pieces of
information are not saved in the backup file.
2. Power up the SkyView display / system.
3. If you have another USB flash drive inserted into this SkyView display, temporarily
remove it (SkyView can only "see" one (1) USB flash drive at a time).
4. Insert the "backup" USB flash drive on the SkyView display you will be sending in
for trade-in.
5. Push buttons 7+8 together to enter the SETUP MENU.
6. SETUP MENU > SYSTEM SOFTWARE > EXPORT SETTINGS > (fill in the blank
- suggest FINAL BACKUP) > EXPORT (button). The settings files will be saved to
the USB flash drive.
7. After the export is complete, remove the USB flash drive.
8. Power down the SkyView display.
9. Put the USB flash drive in a safe place.
If the worst happens - your SkyView display is damaged or lost in transit, this will allow
you to restore MOST settings of your SkyView system.
