Instrument Panel Design
SkyView HDX System Installation Manual - Revision E 3-1
3 Instrument Panel Design
Installing SkyView HDX necessitates the design and fabrication of a new instrument panel
to mount the SkyView panel-mounted equipment. This section provides quantified and
qualified regulatory guidance, as well as volumetric requirements for the SkyView panel-
mounted equipment to help you decide where to locate equipment on the instrument
panel. Sections 3-19 in this manual provide panel cut-out and mounting hole dimensions
for each SkyView component.
3.1 Regulatory Considerations
Part 23 of the Code of Federal Regulations describes locations for displaying information
which, for the most part, is information presented on SkyView HDX Display screen.
Exceptions to this are the information that may be presented in the COM control panel or
a third-party GPS Navigator. All system information must be evaluated and considered
when determining the best equipment locations for your instrument panel.
Before beginning a SkyView HDX system installation, it is highly
recommended that the Certified Mechanic with Inspection Authority (IA) that is
approving your airplane’s return to service agrees with the proposed
equipment location and installation methods, wire harness routing, and the
location of mounted equipment on the instrument panel.
Doing so reduces the likelihood that the installation will not be found compliant
with regulatory requirements and airworthy standards.
