Trim and flaps position potentiometers must be calibrated. Your SkyView display
utilizes onscreen wizards that help you do this. Go to the EMS Calibration Menu to
access these wizards (SETUP MENU > HARDWARE CALIBRATION > EMS
CALIBRATION).
The take-off position will be shown as a green line on the trim widget. If you do
not want this marking on your trim widget, press NONE during the take-off
position portion of the trim calibration.
Coolant Pressure Sensor
Kavlico Liquid Pressure Sensors used for monitoring
Fuel Pressure and Oil Pressure can also be used to
monitor Coolant Pressure. Select the pressure
appropriate for your coolant system:
5 PSI P/N 101715-000
15 PSI P/N 101690-000,
50 PSI P/N 101716-000
150 PSI P/N 101693-000
Due to vibration issues, never connect the sensor directly to the engine.
Mount the pressure sensor to a fixed location using an Adel clamp or other secure method such
as using a transducer mounting block on the firewall. Next, connect the sensor to the coolant
line using appropriate hoses and fittings. The pressure port has a 1/8-27 NPT pipe thread fitting;
you may need adapters to connect to the coolant pressure port on your engine. Locate (or drill
and tap) the pressure port along the coolant line. This port must have a pressure fitting with a
restrictor hole in it. This restrictor hole ensures that, in the event of a sensor failure, coolant
leakage rate is minimized, allowing time for an emergency landing.
Retrofit Legacy Coolant Pressure Sensor with Kavlico Liquid Pressure Sensor
If you are retrofitting a Kavlico Coolant Pressure Sensor into a system which used the legacy
Coolant pressure sensor supplied by Dynon Avionics (see below), the Power (Red wire) and
Ground (Black wire) can be “tapped” from the Manifold Pressure (MAP) sensor that is likely
already installed on the engine. The Sensor output (Green wire) is changed from the legacy
sensor to the Kavlico sensor.
