Dynon Avionics SV-GPS-250 and SV-GPS-2020 Compliance Statements
Use of Dynon Avionics SV-GPS-250 as a GPS
Position Source for US ADS-B Out at SIL/SDA=1
Prior to early 2016, a SkyView system using an SV-GPS-250 as the GPS position source for
ADS-B Out transmitted a SIL and SDA of 0.
Beginning in 2016, a SIL and SDA of 1 is required by the FAA for the ADS-B infrastructure
to transmit ADS-B traffic data to individual aircraft.
Dynon Avionics has conducted a rigorous analysis of the service history and field use of
the SV-GPS-250 and the SkyView system as a whole. This analysis supports the use of the
Dynon Avionics SV-GPS-250 as an ADS-B Position Source with a SIL/SDA level of 1. Dynon
Avionics implemented the change of SIL/SDA of 1 from SIL/SDA of 0 in January, 2016, as
part of SkyView Software version 14.0.
Dynon Avionics has sufficient operating history as a company to demonstrate that any
issues which may arise can be tracked, responded to, and resolved in an acceptable
timeframe to maintain an acceptable safety level in the ADS-B environment as a
SIL/SDA=1 device.
Use of Dynon Avionics SV-GPS-2020 as a GPS
Position Source for US ADS-B Out
A SkyView system equipped with an SV-GPS-2020 as a position source and an SV-XPNDR-
261 as the ADS-B transmitter meets the minimum performance requirements in 14 CFR §
91.227 for operation in the airspaces as defined by 14 CFR § 91.225 when installed and
configured per the instructions in this document.
