Returning an SV-BAT-320 to Dynon Avionics for Exchange (Warranty
Replacement)
If it is necessary to return an SV-BAT-320 to Dynon Avionics for warranty replacement, consult
with your shipping company, in your country, in advance of shipment regarding the regulations
to ship a Lithium-Ion battery such as the SV-BAT-320. Regulations to ship a Lithium-Ion battery
vary widely, depending on the shipping company, country, type of shipping (air, ship, ground,
etc.), thus Dynon Avionics cannot offer definitive advice on shipping an SV-BAT-320, only this
general guidance:
All packages containing lithium batteries are classified as Class 9 — Miscellaneous
Dangerous Goods. However, packages containing small amounts of lithium may be
exempted from most of the IATA and ICAO requirements if they comply with the
requirements in Section II IATA (which matches Section II ICAO) Packing Instructions (PI)
965, 966, and 967 for lithium ion batteries and 968, 969 and 970 for lithium metal
batteries as appropriate.
For purposes of shipping, Lithium-Ion batteries manufactured for Dynon Avionics are
deemed to contain minimal lithium, below thresholds that require special arrangements.
To support returning an SV-BAT-320 to Dynon Avionics for warranty replacement, a Material
Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for the SV-BAT-320 is available upon request – contact Dynon
Avionics Technical Support (contact information at the beginning of this manual).
A package containing a Lithium-Ion battery is sometimes required to be labeled as such. Figure
103 below is an example of such a label.
