SkyView Wi-Fi Adapter
Use of Wi-Fi is not supported in SkyView SE. If you intend to install and use SkyView
SE, do not purchase or install a SkyView Wi-Fi Adapter.
The SkyView Wi-Fi Adapter allows communication
with selected Wi-Fi devices and selected applications
(apps) on those devices. When equipped for Wi-Fi, it
is required that a SkyView Wi-Fi Adapter be installed
on each SkyView display in the plane. The SkyView
Wi-Fi Adapter is the only Wi-Fi adapter that Dynon
Avionics supports for use with SkyView.
The SkyView Wi-Fi Adapter functions as a Wi-Fi
Access Point (AP) – compatible devices connect to
the SkyView display as you would connect to a Wi-Fi AP for Internet Access.
While selected devices can connect to a SkyView Wi-Fi Adapter in a manner similar
to connecting to a Wi-Fi AP, a SkyView system does not provide Internet Access.
On the back side of the SkyView Wi-Fi Adapter (opposite the Dynon Avionics label)
there is a small pushbutton. This pushbutton is not activated for use with SkyView;
it has no function.
The SkyView Wi-Fi Adapter is compatible with all SkyView displays – SV-D700, SV-D1000, and
SV-D1000T.
Physical installation of the SkyView Wi-Fi Adapter is simple. With the SkyView display powered
off, plug it into an available USB port on the back of the SkyView display. It is not recommended
to plug the SkyView Wi-Fi Adapter into the USB cable that is part of the SV-HARNESS-D37. Each
SkyView Wi-Fi Adapter is shipped with a short USB extension cable which may increase
performance and/or range in certain SkyView installations, such as tandem planes where
SkyView displays are not located close to each other in a panel.
Although you must have a SkyView Wi-Fi Adapter connected to each SkyView display, they
work together as a system. Thus, configuration of SkyView’s Wi-Fi system only needs to be
done on one SkyView display and those settings will take effect on all SkyView displays.
To configure the SkyView Wi-Fi Adapter, push buttons 7+8 to access the SETUP MENU. Then,
select SYSTEM SETUP > WI-FI SETUP.
STATUS: Displays the status of the Wi-Fi system:
ONLINE – The SkyView Wi-Fi system is configured and operating normally.
OFFLINE – The SkyView Wi-Fi system is not configured, disabled, or not functioning.
