If you have a Garmin GNS, GTN or similar IFR GPS that is directly connected to the SV-
XPNDR-261/262 to provide a certified position source via Garmin’s ADS-B format data
output, you MUST update to version 2.04 or later.
If you are in the US and are using a Dynon Avionics SV-XPNDR-261/262 plus SV-ADSB-
470 module to receive both traffic and weather AND your SV-XPNDR-261/262 Software
version is lower than SW02.02, you should update to version SW02.04 to update so that
it meets the latest TSO C166b. If your SV-XPNDR-261/262 is not updated to the latest
TSO, you will not receive a complete traffic portrait. This applies whether or not you are
using a TSO’d GPS or SkyView’s SV-GPS-250 as your ADS-B position source.
If your SV-XPNDR-261/262 has not been previously updated (such as if you are updating to
SkyView Software v10.0 from a SkyView Software version that is earlier than v5.0, applying the
SV-XPNDR-261/262 Software SW02.04 will update your SV-XPNDR-261/262 to the latest
Software (it is not necessary to apply version SW02.02, and then version SW02.04). If you are
updating your SV-XPNDR-261/262 for the first time, to Software version SW02.04, the labeling
requirements below apply.
SkyView Software v12.2 v13.0.3 SV-XPNDR-261/262 Software SW02.06 Update
The optional SV-XPNDR-261/262 Software update SW02.06 that is contained within SkyView
Software v12.2 through v13.0.3 provides an update that only pertains to some installations. It
also includes the updates described above for SV-XPNDR-261/262 Software version SW02.02
and Software version SW02.04. If either of the following scenarios describes your installation,
you should update your SV-XPNDR-261/262 to version SW02.06 Software:
If you have a Garmin GNS, GTN or similar IFR GPS that is directly connected to the SV-
XPNDR-261/262 to provide a certified position source via Garmin’s ADS-B format data
output, you should update to version 2.06 or later and switch your GPS device to
output ADS-B+ format for FAA 2020 ADS-B rule compliance. Note that your Garmin
GPS may require a Software update to enable ADS-B+ format output.
If you are in the US and are using an SV-XPNDR-261/262 plus SV-ADSB-470 module to
receive both traffic and weather AND your SV-XPNDR-261/262 Software version is a
lower number than 2.02, you should update to version 2.06 to update so that it meets
the latest TSO C166b. If your SV-XPNDR-261/262 is not updated to the latest TSO, you
will not receive a complete traffic portrait. This applies whether or not you are using a
TSO’d GPS or SkyView as your ADS-B position source.
SV-XPNDR-261/262 Software v2.06 adds additional support for Garmin GNS, GTN or similar IFR
GPS units that is directly connected to the SV-XPNDR-261/262 to provide a certified position
source. Previously, the data format used to provide certified position source data from these
GPS units was “ADS-B”. The “ADS-B” format was found to have a technical error, which Garmin
corrected by creating a new data format “ADS-B+”.
After updating your SV-XPNDR-261/262 to Software v2.06, on the Garmin GNS, GTN or similar
IFR GPS:
