Capacitance to Voltage Converter for Van’s Capacitive Plates
Dynon Avionics Capacitance to Voltage Converter for Van’s Capacitive Plates (P/N 100654-000)
is designed to interface the capacitive plates fuel level sensor option for Van’s Aircraft RV
aircraft to Dynon Avionics EMS units, including the SkyView SV-EMS-220/221. The capacitance
signal is via a BNC Male connector (the connector for the Van’s capacitive plates is a BNC
Female) and the output is a 0-5 volts DC. Input power for the Capacitance to Voltage Converter
for Van’s Capacitive Plates is 10 to 15 volts DC. We recommend that you connect the
Capacitance to Voltage Converter for Van’s Capacitive Plates to the SV-EMS-220/221 power
input as shown in the table below, but it will also work properly when connected directly to
standard 12 volt DC aircraft power. If your aircraft runs on 24 volt DC power, you must connect
the Capacitance to Voltage Converter for Van’s Capacitive Plates to the SV-EMS-220/221 for
power - voltage inputs higher than 15 volts DC will damage the unit.
The Dynon Avionics Capacitance to Voltage Converter for Van’s Capacitive Plates
(P/N 100654-000) is designed for use only with the capacitive plates fuel level
sensor option for Van’s Aircraft RVs with a capacitance range of 50 1000 pF. While
some installers have installed the Dynon Avionics Capacitance to Voltage Converter
for Van’s Capacitive Plates to interface to other capacitive fuel level sensors, it was
not designed for such use. We recommend that you do not purchase and install this
product for use with any capacitive fuel level sensor other than the Van’s Aircraft
RV capacitive plates fuel level sensor.
General Installation Recommendations
Connect the BNC Male connector of the Dynon Avionics Capacitance to Voltage Converter for
Van’s Capacitive Plates to the BNC Female connector on your Van’s RV fuel tank. Connect the
wires as shown in the table below. If you need to extend the wire beyond the supplied length,
we recommend avionics grade 22 AWG wire with Tefzel® type insulation.
