Appendix H: Sensor Debug Data
28-2 SkyView System Installation Guide - Revision AA
o C25 (Connector, 25-pin) – the 25-pin connector on the SV-EMS-220/221.
o Px refers to an individual pin on the 37-pin or the 25-pin connector.
o Px/x refers to a pair of pins used for thermocouples (CHT/EGTs) on the 37-pin or
the 25-pin connector.
NAME – The name selected in SENSOR INPUT MAPPING for this sensor / input / pin.
SENSOR ID – The type of sensor selected in SENSOR INPUT MAPPING for this sensor /
input / pin.
RAW – Raw number from the Analog to Digital converter; Dynon Avionics internal use
only.
CAL(V) – The exact voltage that is present on this pin. The output of many sensors are
converted to a voltage in the SV-EMS-220/221 for processing. For example, Dynon
Avionics temperature sensors are thermistors, which vary their resistance with changing
temperature, and are converted to a voltage internally, before resulting in a display of
temperature in ° Fahrenheit or ° Celsius.
VALUE – Output of the (selected) sensor in (converted) units (such as pressure,
temperature, etc.) corrected for the measurement unit selected (temperature in °
Fahrenheit, etc.). This is the same number that is displayed in the widget on the EMS
page.
o “nan” is “Not A Number”; the input being received on this pin is invalid for this
particular sensor. This is normal when the input is not configured, or the sensor
is not connected or defective.
Specialized Function Pins
Pin 14
Primary fuel flow sensor, monitoring fuel flow from the tank to the engine. The RAW value will
increment for every pulse received from the fuel flow sensor in the current boot cycle (reset
when the SkyView display is powered off).
In Figure 229 above, the displayed RAW value is shown as “5AD” (not 00000000). This value is
displayed as a hexadecimal number (Base 16), and increments by 1 for each pulse. Succeeding
pulses would change this value to 5AE, then 5AF, then 5B0, etc.
If the engine is on (fuel is flowing from the fuel tank to the engine), the RAW value should be
incrementing. If the RAW value is not incrementing, no pulses are being received from the fuel
flow sensor.
CAL(V) and VALUE both show the fuel flow rate, corrected for the “K-factor” selected in FUEL
FLOW CALIBRATION (pulses per unit per hour) and the unit selected (Gallons or Liters).
Pin 19
Return fuel flow sensor, monitoring fuel flow from the engine back to the tank. The RAW value
will increment for every pulse received from the fuel flow sensor in the current boot cycle
(reset when the SkyView display is powered off).
