3.5.5 Configuring Routing Exchange Between Hub-PE and Spoke-
PE
Context
The Hub-PE must set up the MP-IBGP peers with all the Spoke-PEs. Spoke-PEs, however, need
not set up the MP-IBGP peers with each other.
Do as follows on the Hub-PE and the Spoke-PE.
Procedure
Step 1 Run:
system-view
The system view is displayed.
Step 2 Run:
bgp as-number
The BGP view is displayed.
Step 3 Run:
peer peer-address as-number as-number
The remote PE is configured as the BGP peer.
Step 4 Run:
peer peer-address connect-interface loopback interface-number
The interfaces for establishing the TCP sessions are configured.
NOTE
The loopback interface address with a 32-bit mask is recommended to establish the MP-IBGP peer relations
between the PEs otherwise, the packets may fail to find the proper route because of route aggregation. The
route to the loopback interface is advertised to the remote PE through IGP on the MPLS backbone network.
Step 5 Run:
ipv4-family vpnv4 [ unicast ]
