Example
Run the display ip routing-table command on the CE connected with the U-PE. You can find
that there is a default route whose next hop is U-PE, but the route to the network segment where
the peer CE resides does not exist.
3.8 Configuring the OSPF Sham Link
This section describes how to configure OSPF sham links. After the OSPF sham links are
configured, the sites of the same VPN and the same OSPF area can communicate with each other
without using the routes within the OSPF area.
3.8.1 Establishing the Configuration Task
3.8.2 Configuring End Addresses of a Sham Link
3.8.3 Advertising Routes of the End Addresses on a Sham Link
3.8.4 Creating a Sham Link
3.8.5 Checking the Configuration
3.8.1 Establishing the Configuration Task
Applicable Environment
The sham link is considered as an OSPF intra-area route. The sham link ensures that the traffic
is transmitted over the backbone instead of the backdoor link.
The source and destination addresses of the sham link should use the loopback interface
addresses with 32-bit masks. Besides, this loopback interface must be bound to the VPN instance
and be advertised through BGP.
Pre-configuration Tasks
Before configuring OSPF sham links, complete the following tasks:
l Configuring Basic BGP/MPLS IP VPN (OSPF runs between PE and CE)
l Configuring OSPF in the LAN where the user CE resides
Data Preparation
To configure OSPF sham links, you need the following data.
No.
Data
1 Numbers and addresses of the loopback interfaces that are located at the ends of sham
link
2 Name of the VPN instance
3 Process ID of the OSPF instance
4 Local ASN
