BGP is configured as the PW signaling protocol and the VSI BGP view is displayed.
Step 4 Run:
route-distinguisher route-distinguisher
The Router Distinguisher (RD) is configured for the VSI.
After configuring BGP as the PW signaling for the VSI, you must configure the RD before other
configurations.
NOTE
On the same PE, different VSIs have different RDs.
For the same VSI in different PEs, the cases are as follows:
l If the CEs are dual-homed to the PEs, the RDs of the VSIs are different.
l If the CEs are not dual-homed to the PEs, the RDs of the VSIs can either be the same or be different.
Step 5 Run:
vpn-target vpn-target &<1-16>[ both | export-extcommunity | import-extcommunity ]
The VPN target is configured for the VSI.
When using this command, note the mapping between the VPN target attribute at the local end
and the VPN target attribute at the remote end.
l export-extcommunity of the local end must be the same as import-extcommunity of the peer.
l import-extcommunity of the local end must be the same as export-extcommunity of the peer.
Traffic can be normally transmitted bidirectionally only when the preceding two conditions are
met. If only one condition is met, the traffic can be transmitted only in unidirectional way. For
the convenience of configuration, the four values are generally configured to be the same.
Step 6 Run:
site site-id [ range site-range ] [ default-offset { 0 | 1 } ]
A site is configured to connect to a remote site.
The same VSI on different PEs cannot be configured with the same site ID. site-id of the local
end cannot be greater than the sum of site-range and default-offset of the remote end. site-id of
the local end must be greater than default-offset of the remote end.
NOTE
All Kompella L2VPN instances and VPLS VSI instances of a device share one label block; therefore, the
sum of the ranges of all Kompella L2VPN instances and VPLS VSI instances cannot be greater than the
label block. Otherwise, the system prompts that the labels cannot be obtained because the number of
required labels exceeds the upper limit. As a result, the allocation of a site ID to a VSI or the creation of a
CE fails.
TIP
A VSI can set up the VSI connection with multiple VSIs with the same site ID and the same VPN target
of other PEs. Among those VSIs, a VSI is the primary VSI, and the others are backup VSIs. This scheme,
however, is not recommended. Multiple VSIs with the same site number and the same VPN target are
allocated the same label, and they are actually the same VSI. Among the connections set by a VSI with the
other ones, only one connection is set up successfully.
