7. Software Options
You can increase the capability of the already versatile 38DL PLUS using the available
software options (see Table 4 on page 91).
When you purchase a software option with the original 38DL PLUS order, the option
is already activated. You can also purchase software options later. You can activate the
software options without having to return the instrument to the factory, by entering
an activation code in the instrument (see “Activating Software Options” on page 92).
Contact your local Olympus representative for more information regarding ordering
software options. Refer to Table 42 on page 285 for the software option part numbers.

HIGH RESOLUTION

Increases the thickness resolution to 0.001 mm or
0.0001 in. for single element transducers with a
frequency ≥2.25 MHz.
OXIDE LAYER
(see “Oxide Layer Software
Option” on page 93)
Allows the 38DL PLUS to measure the thickness
of both the boiler tube and its internal oxide.
MULTI‑MEASUREMENT
(see “Multi-Measurement
Software Option” on page 99)
Allows the 38DL PLUS to measure and display up
to four different layer thicknesses at the same time
using single element transducers.
HIGH PENETRATION
(see “High Penetration
Software Option” on
page 111)
Allows the 38DL PLUS to use low-frequency
single element transducers (as low as 0.5 MHz) for
thickness measurement in attenuating and sound
scattering materials.
