4. Encoder cable; this cable connects the EP4/ENC B-Scan Encoder Buggy to the
combination 11 pin USB/RS-232/B-scan connector located on the top of the
38DL PLUS.
Select one of the following:
3.05 m (10 foot) encoder cable (P/N: 38DLP-ENC-CBL-10 [U8840168])
7.62 m (25 foot) encoder cable (P/N: 38DLP-ENC-CBL-25 [U8840169])
15.24 m (50 foot) encoder cable (P/N: 38DLP-ENC-CBL-50 [U8840170])
30.48 m (100 foot) encoder cable (P/N: 38DLP-ENC-CBL-100 [U8840171])
The Encoded B-scan can be activated and configured from the BSCAN screen (see
Figure 7-12 on page 107) by pressing [SETUP MENU], and then selecting BSCAN in
the menu. Most of the controls for the encoded B-scan are the same as those for the
standard non-encoded B-scan. Please refer to “B-Scan” on page 139 for more
information concerning B-scan configuration.

Additional configuration parameters for the Encoded B-Scan option are listed below.
ENCODER MODE
MANUAL: Time based no encoder.
BDIRECTIONAL: The B-scan moves forward or backward with the encoder.
UNIDIRECTIONAL: The B-scan moves forward only, regardless of whether the
encoder moves forward or backward.
