7.5 Encoded B-Scan Option
The 38DL PLUS standard software has the capability to save non-encoded B-scans.
Non-encoded B-scans run at a fixed rate, and do not capture the distance traveled
information with the scan. The Encoded B-Scan software option allows the
38DL PLUS to be connected to a linear encoder so that an encoded B-scan can be
generated that captures the thickness and distance traveled in a linear B-scan. B-scans
can be saved to the internal data logger, and uploaded to the GageView interface
program.
The Encoded B-Scan option is designed to work with the Olympus B-Scan Encoder
Buggy (part number EP4/ENC [U8780018]), but it can be connected to other linear
encoders. Please contact Olympus for more information about connecting the
38DL PLUS encoded B-Scan to other encoders.
A maximum of 10 000 thickness readings with distance traveled (DT) can be saved in a
single B-scan. The B-scan also captures the minimum thickness location, in addition to
the associated waveform for the minimum thickness. Saved B-scans can be reviewed
on the 38DL PLUS, or transferred to the GageView interface program for review. The
thickness and distance traveled data can be exported to Excel. The maximum number
of B-scans that can be stored in the 38DL PLUS’s internal memory is approximately 47
(10000 readings per scan).
