Appendix I: SkyView System Installation Guide Revision History
SkyView System Installation Guide - Revision AA 29-13
Revision
Revision Date
Description
o New: SkyView can switch its HSI Source when an external IFR NAV+GPS
navigator such as the Garmin GNS (430 and similar) or GTN series direct it
to. Configure under SYSTEM SETUP > ARINC-429 > ALLOW AUTO SWITCH.
Note that when this is enabled, the external navigator’s CDI/source select
feature must be used to switch between the GPS/NAV sides of the device,
even manually.
o New: Textual ADS-B winds aloft for the most recent forecast period added
to airport WX info pages where available. When unavailable at the actual
airport, the report for the nearest station within 200nm is shown.
o New: Options to filter the nearest airport list based on runway surface,
length, and airport type. Configure under MAP MENU > NEAREST LIST
OPTIONS. Once configured, toggle this filter on and off via the NRST >
FILTER button.
o New: “Check gear” and “gear overspeed” audio alerts for retractable gear
aircraft that are tied to both landing gear status and airspeeds.
o New: “Gear up for water landing” and “gear down for runway landing”
audio alerts for amphibious aircraft that are annunciated as a selected
airspeed is transitioned through.
o New: Flight plans from ARINC IFR GPS navigators such as the GNS and GTN
series can be displayed both on SkyView’s map (including holds and other
procedure turns) and on SkyView’s flight plan display. Note that these
externally sourced flight plans cannot be changed on SkyView. Viewing
these does not inhibit SkyView’s own flight planning engine from being used
concurrently.
o New: Vertical Speed Required to destination Info Item on map and PFD VSI
displays the current VS required to set up at a specified point at or before
and above your final destination waypoint.
o Improved: Pressing knob/joystick center-click from within the FPL menu
bring ups insert waypoint function.
o Improved: SkyView will no longer allow system software upgrades if
previously-detected autopilot servos, SkyView Network modules, or
SkyView com radio are not powered on.
o Improved: All EMS widgets that have assignable color ranges
(red/yellow/green/black) now have additional color options: blue, white,
purple, cyan, and orange.
o Improved: When the map pointer is selecting a single item, range is still
enabled by turning the map joystick knob (if two or more items are under
the pointer, turning the knob chooses which one is selected).
o Improved: Radios such as the Icom A210 that can receive frequencies but
do not output status now need not cause the top bar radio status area to
show a “red x”. Added DISPLAY COM IN TOP BAR option to configure this
behavior.
o Improved: Fuel Tank Switch Reminder is now based on Flight Time and not
engine Run Time.
o Improved: Yellow/red terrain alert coloration disabled on the map page
when not in flight.
o Improved: HSI SRC added to expert autopilot menu to aid source switching
while configuring and changing autopilot modes.
o Improved: GPS waypoints now displayed in HSI info area for ARINC
navigators such as the GNS and GTN.
o Improved: External GPS and NAV radios can now be named with a user-
configurable 7-character “friendly name” to aid in identifying sources on the
HSI display.
o Improved: HSI courses are now remembered for each HSI source. This is
especially helpful when switching between VOR and ILS or GPS and ILS
sources.
o Improved: Smoother screen transitions during boot.
o Added: 60% page available for PFD page to better afford split-screen with
analog flight instruments in two horizontal rows.
o Added: Touchable Map Info Items for Direct-to, Info, Nearest, Flight Plan,
and Map Menu.
o Added: Support for MGL V6 and V10 Com radios.
o Added: Support for the Trig TY91 Com radio (25 kHz only).
o Added: Support for Val NAV 2000 NAV radio.
