Congure IP Connection Through OSC
Prerequisite:
■ The NE is installed and powered up, OSC is congured, and DCN connecvity is available through the
transport network using OSC.
Aenon: To connect the NE to the DCN through the OSC, the user must rst turn up the OSC, which
requires signicant OSC provisioning. OSC turn-up is not covered in this chapter because it ts in the
chapter that covers turn-up of the NE transport funcons.
The following gure shows a WDM network composed of 1FINITY ROADM and ILA NEs. The NEs at Site A and Site
B connect to the DCN through the LCN1 interface. All other NEs connect to the DCN through OSC links.

WDM Network
OSC is required (must be turned up) between every pair of adjacent NEs in the 1FINITY WDM network because it
(OSC) supports various required funcons, for example, opcal power management and LLDP. If needed, OSC can
carry DCN trac.
Note: In this procedure, roung instances are congured with OSPF roung protocol. If desired, roung
instances can be congured stacally (using the stac roung protocol and next-hops).
