Remove SFP Module

Install SFP Module
Danger: Never look into the end of a ber-opc cable. Permanent eye damage or blindness can occur very
quickly if the laser light is present. Follow local safety precauons regarding ber.
Danger: Never handle exposed ber with bare hands or touch it to bare skin. Fiber fragments can enter
the skin and are dicult to detect and remove. Follow local safety precauons regarding ber.
Cauon: Unplugging a SFP module can be trac-aecng. Make sure trac is not dependent on the
module before removing.
Step 1
Locate the SFP module to be removed.
Step 2
Inspect the ber connecons to (if any) the module to be removed. Verify that each ber is clearly marked or
labeled to idenfy the correct connecon locaon.
Note: Fiber marking or labeling depends on local pracce.
Step 3
Is each ber clearly marked to show its corresponding connector?
If YES:
Connue with next step.
If NO:
Mark or label bers according to local pracce and connue with next step.
Step 4
Disconnect the ber-opc cables from the module to be removed.
Cauon
: Do not remove the wrong ber connecons. Removing a ber connecon that is in use disrupts
service.
Step 5
Li the release lever on the module to release it from the PIU, and slowly and carefully pull module straight out.
