Warning: Replace only one plug-in at a me, if power is applied to blade, to maintain proper air ow and
prevent damage due to potenal overheang. The rst PIU must be replaced before proceeding to replace
the next PIU.
Aenon: Do not replace the PIU if replacing a contained SFP, SFP+, or CFP4 module can clear the
alarm.
Step 1
Retrieve alarms.
Command:
> show alarms alarm-list
Step 2
Are any alarms and standing condions currently being reported?
If YES:
Clear all acve alarms and standing condions, as necessary, before connuing this procedure. Aer these
alarms and standing condions are cleared, connue with the next step.
If NO:
Connue with next step.
Step 3
Is it possible that replacing a single pluggable opcs module clears the current alarms?
If YES:
Do not connue this procedure. Replace the suspected pluggable opcs module. Connue with next step
only if replacing the modules does not clear the problem.
If NO:
Connue with next step.
Step 4
Inspect the ber connecons to the PIU. Verify that each ber is clearly marked or labeled to idenfy the correct
connecon locaon.
Step 5
Is each ber clearly marked to show its corresponding connector?
If YES:
Connue with next step.
If NO:
Mark or label bers according to local pracce and connue with the next step.
Step 6
Ensure that an appropriate ESD wrist strap is worn and is properly grounded onto the ESD wrist strap grounding
post on the chassis.
