5. REMOVAL

5.1 PROPELLER SHAFT REMOVAL
1. Mark propeller shaft (phasing marks). It
is imperative to mark all the mating
components of a propeller shaft, as
illustrated below. Mark the propeller
shaft with a marking stick, paint marker
or other legible marking device. In
addition, be sure to mark all bearing
positions, spline positions and shaft
locations. This assures proper
reassembly of the propeller shaft into the
vehicle, in its original position.

2. Be sure to ALWAYS use support straps
to prevent the propeller shaft from falling
out of the vehicle.
3. Remove the bearing retainers and bolts
at rear end. Discard bolts, and bearing
retainers.
