Appendix I: SkyView System Installation Guide Revision History
29-10 SkyView System Installation Guide - Revision AA
Revision
Revision Date
Description
o New: Simplified Autopilot Controls - great for VFR pilots that are looking to
reduce the complexity of the Autopilot and cruise in comfort without a
steep learning curve. With these controls, there are fundamentally two
autopilot modes, each activated by a single button. TRK+ALT flies the
aircraft in a commanded direction and holds altitude, while HSI+ALT flies
the navigation source on the HSI, such as a GPS flight plan or VOR.
o New: Expert Autopilot Controls that include all of the autopilot modes IFR
pilots need to complete their mission, including VNAV, IAS Hold, mode
sequencing, fully-coupled approaches, a Flight Director with single cue (v-
bars) or dual cue (crosshairs) presentation, and more.
o New: Support for external LEVEL button via SkyView display contact input.
o New: Support for SkyView VHF COM Radio (25 kHz).
o New: Ability to display, in the Top Bar, status of SL40, SL30, Icom A210, and
other COM radios that use the Garmin format.
o New: Ability to send COM radio frequencies to SL40, SL30, Icom A210, and
other radios that use the Garmin format.
o New: Ability to send NAV radio frequencies to SL30 and other radios that
use the Garmin format.
o New: MDA (minimums) bug and relevant "approaching minimums" and
"minimums" alerts.
o New: SV-BAT-320 mini self-test at every shut-down. Manual "full" test that
is designed to be used annually to confirm that the battery is still capable of
providing >45 minutes of power to a display.
o Improved: SV-EMS-22X Pin 23 now usable as an Enhanced General Purpose
Input (Type C). You must have the June 2013 (or later) version of the Engine
Sensor Definition File loaded to enable this capability.
o Improved: SkyView's own map-based navigation changed from GPS 0 to
SKYVIEW in the HSI information area.
o Improved: Selected courses are now remembered for each HSI Source.
o Improved: VRPs now categorized correctly for all aviation data sources.
o Improved: Fuel computer maximum full capacity increased to 999 gallons.
o Improved: Fuel Flow can now display up to 999 GPH.
o Improved: Fuel Remaining will now decrement as soon as fuel flow is
detected. Previously required presence of RPM and/or oil pressure to begin
decrementing Fuel Remaining.
o Updated: ADS-B traffic will now be displayed when a Garmin GTX 330 ES
transponder is configured.
o Changed: Serial ports are now managed for the whole system, not per-
display. This means that all serial devices must be connected to the same
serial ports on all displays in parallel (this applies to both TX and RX wires).
o Fixed: Update to map airspace colors now built into software update and no
longer requires separate .dfg file load.
o Fixed: Traffic from TIS "format" devices is now still displayed when the
setting to allow TIS traffic from an SV-XPNDR-26X is set to OFF.
o Fixed: TM250 support.
o Fixed: Traffic fail no longer displayed when an SV-ADSB-470 is installed
without a transponder capable of enabling the traffic receiving capability of
the SV-ADSB-470.
o Fixed: Garrecht TRX-1500 now supported via TIS format instead of Flarm
data format.
o Removed: Support for drawing legacy "power user" placemarks. Old
placemarks files will import as user waypoints.
Software changes in SkyView Software v6.1 released June, 2013 (no documentation
changes):
o Update: Support for minor hardware changes in SkyView displays. This
release was not released on the web site. There are no new features in this
release.
Software changes in SkyView Software v6.2 released July, 2013 (no documentation
changes):
o Improved: Decreased starting voltage requirement for initial/recurrent SV-
BAT-320 test to allow it to start when close to fully charged.
o Improved: Language and layout of initial/recurrent SV-BAT-320 test page.
o Improved: AP Flight Director damped for improved usability.
o Improved: Various small fixes for SV-COM-C25 radio.
