GENERAL DATA
REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS AND CARE
When repairing engine noting the followings points:
• Cylinders injecting sequence 1, 3, 4, 2.
Cylinder n° 1 is located at the engine front part, near the engine distribution and cylinder n° 4 in at the rear part of
engine, near the flywheel.
• Before carrying out any general repairs, make a diagnostic of engine (compression, leaks, distribution overhauling,
stalling and adjustments of injecting pump - mechanical injection-, turbo charger running, etc.). This will help to
single out the problem and avoid a general repair only when justified. In electronic injection engines (Common Rail),
check the injection system.
• As a general rule, when undergoing any repair, the negative terminal must be disconnected from battery, as this will
avoid the possibility that accidentally short circuit take place.
• All tasks related with the fuel system must be done in ventilated places taking the appropriate security steps.
• While removal/installation or storing any assemblies, protect using appropriate caps the inlet cylinder head holes,
cylinder block, injecting pump, turbo charger, etc. in order to avoid accidental entrance of impurities and alien bodies
inside them. Store assemblies in a hermetic plastic bags.
• To remove the engine parts, place them in order in such a way that they can be put them back again easily when
install.
• In common rail engine, high pressure pipes should be replaced after dismantling. Flow limitler and the pressure
limiter valve wich are installated on Rail can stand 5 fitting after wich it is necessary to replace them.
• The following components do not accept repairing, must be remove the assembly (in avery case) there are: turbo
charger, water pump, flow limiter, pressure limiter valve, electro-injectors, high pressure pump, MS. 6.3 control board
and sensors.
• In mechanical injection engines, injection pump and injectors must be repair by repective oficial service.
• When installation is done, lubricate generously the friction surfaces with new engine oil, to protect the engine during
the initial running.
• When turbo charger is put back, or when a new one is fitted, fill it with new motor oil to facilitate initial lubrication.
• When withdrawing electrical connectors, do not do it pulling from cables, loose previously the blocking fixtures of
them and pull from the connectors.
• Use always original spare replacements, as these will warrantee the quality of the repair, vehicle security and user
security.
• Apply specified tightening torque and repair data and use the recommended products.
