Condition Possible cause Correction
Slipping 1. Oil disc facing Replace.
2. Worn disc facing Replace.
3. Weakened disc spring Replace.
4. Warped pressure plate or flywheel Replace.
5. Improper clutch pedal free travel Adjust and replace clutch,
facings if needed.
Dragging 1. Improper clutch pedal free travel Adjust free travel.
clutch 2. Weakened diaphragm spring, or worn spring tip Replace.
3. Rusted primary shaft splines Replace.
4. Damaged or worn splines at transmission primary shaft Replace.
5. Excesively wobbly clutch disc Replace.
6. Disc facings broken or dirty with oil Replace.
Clutch 1. Glazed (glas-like) disc facings Replace.
vibration 2. Disc facings dirty with oil Replace.
3. Wobbly clutch disc or poor facing contact Replace.
4. Weakened torsion springs in clutch disc Replace.
5. Clutch disc rivets loose Replace disc.
6. Distorted flywheel or pressure plate surfaces Replace clutch cover or flywheel.
7. Weakened or loosened engine silentblock, nut or bolt Retighten or replace mounting.
Noisy clutch 1. Broken or worn release bearing Replace.
2. Primary shaft front bearing worn down Replace.
3. Excessive rattle of clutch disc hub Replace disc.
4. Cracked clutch disc Replace.
5. Pressure plate and diaphragm-spring rattling Replace.
Grabbing 1. Disc facings soaked with oil Replace.
clutch 2. Disc facings excesively worm Replace.
3. Rivet heads showing out at facing Replace.
4. Weakened torsion springs Replace.
