Revision of grooving
1) Remove (1) and fix sleeve (2) in a vice at a bench.
2) Fit a dial gauge with its measuring tip on the axle grooves
and move rotate the axle to find out the play between grooves.
Maximum play between grooves: 0.10 mm
NOTE:
If play between grooves is above the indicated
maximum value, change the whole propeller shaft.
Flange revision
3) Displace flange (3) to check longitudinally, to detect possible
radial play of the bearings or their lodging in the forks.
4) Move propeller shaft flange horizontally and vertically.
NOTE:
If radial or longitudinal play is observed in bearings then
change crosshead. If the bearings play is attributed to
its lodgings in the forks then change propeller shaft.
