BRAKES 5-13
STOPLIGHT SWITCH ADJUSTMENT
1) Push brake pedal towards you and keep it like that.
2) Adjust switch position in such a way that play between thread
end and brake pedal top lies between the specified values.
Play (A) of stopping switch: 0.5 ÷ 1 mm
3) Once play has been checked and adjusted tighten counter
nut (1) to specified tightening torque.
Tightening torque for counter nut of the stopping
switch: 1 ÷ 1.5 Kg-m (10 ÷ 15 Nm)
BRAKE PEDAL PATH REVISION
1) Start engine.
2) Depress brake pedal a few times.
3) Depress brake pedal with about 30 Kg load, and check play
(A) between the brake pedal and flooring, as shown in the
figure.
Play (A) of the pedal in braking position: ~71 mm
4) If play is less than specification, there could be two reasons:
• Air is present in the brake system conductions, and if this
is so then purge the circuit (see 5-17).
• There is maladjustment in brake pedal height. If this is so,
adjust acting on the brake booster lung fork (see 5-12).
MASTER CYLINDER INSPECTION
1) Check for cracked master cylinder casting or brake fluid
around the master cylinder. If is estimated that there are
leaks when there is even a drop of fluid. Anything damp is
thought to be abnormal.
2) If you detect any type of leak proceed to substitute master
cylinder (see 5-31).
NOTE:
Master cylinder should not be repaired. Consequently,
when working anomalies or fluid leaks are detected
it must be substituted.
