Automatic device for the advance
injection for cold starting (KSB)
Description
The rotary injection pump with mechanical speed
regulator has an automatic device for the advance
injection for cold starting (KSB) that is mechanical
type with an electric control.
This device establishes an advance superior to the
static value of the assembly when the temperature of
the engine is below 30ºC and to take the advance to
its normal graduation (static advance) at the same
time as the engine temperature increases (start or
advance reduction at 45ºC).
Functioning
The KSB cold start device is composed of a wax
thermostat or thermic bulb (1) which acts longitudinally
along a rod and connecting cable (3) connected to the
control lever (2) of the advance converter.
When the engine is cold, the bulb (1), the rod and
cable (3) are in withdrawn position; therefore the lever
(2) stays in position (a). In this position, the tappet (4)
moved by the lever (2) modifies the position of the ring
(5) with respect to its normal position, which in turn
causes the changer (6), producing an increase in the
advance respect to the static advance of the assembly.
Once the engine is started, the current produced by the generator
(terminal D+) feeds the thermic bulb (1) resistance. The heat
produced heats the wax bulb which dilates, causing the
movement of the rod and cable (3), gradually shifting the lever
(2) to position (b). This cancels the advance supplement
established for cold starting; the elements of the advance changer
return to their normal working position.
NOTA:
• The complete exclusion of the KSB device or the
elimination of advance for cold starting is carried out
after 3-4 minutes of function.
• Regulation of the KSB is carried out with the injector
pump fitted on a test bench.
