Anticorrosion wax is a penetrating compound applied to the metal-
metal contact surfaces (door insides and main lateral frame)
where other coating material can not be used. Hence, when
choosing an anticorrosion wax it must be of the penetrating type.
When a vinyl protecting layer is applied, it must be done carefully
in order to avoid that the sealant comes in the motor, damper
ensemble and rotating pieces. After the protecting coating has
been applied, any draining holes within the body should be still
operational.
The sequence of work with anticorrosive materials is as follows:
1) Clean and prepare the metal surfaces.
2) Apply primer.
3) Apply sealer (all unions previously sealed).
4) Apply the adequate colour paint at all the part previously
coloured.
5) Apply anticorrosion compound (penetrating wax).
6) Apply protecting layer (rust proof material).
When welding or heating lead to burning of the original galvanic
protection or the anticorrosive materials in the surface, the
surfaces of internal sheets and under the bodywork must be
cleaned.
Cleaning of burning residues must be done carefully when the
place to be cleaned is box-like of any other form where access
to the inside is difficult. In general the following method can be
used.
Scrape surfaces easily accessible. If a knife or a scraper does
not fit in place use a flexible scraper to access in difficult areas.
Compress air can eliminate many times most of the shavings
and is good when working in closed places. However, pay most
attention to wear protecting goggles.
