3B-12 STEERING GEAR BOX AND LINKAGE
PURGING AND SUBSTITUTION OF THE
STEERING LIQUID
1) Lift the front part of the vehicle and put an appropriate trestle
to keep wheels above ground.
2) Disconnect the oil return hose from tank.
3) Turn steering wheel leftwards and run the engine, a maximum
of 10 seconds, to evacuate the oil from pump.
4) Stop engine and turn fully to and fro the steering wheel to
extract all the oil from the circuit.
5) Connect the oil return hose to the tank and fill again, till the
specified level (see 0B-26).
NOTE:
Always use new, fresh, recommend hydraulic oil.
6) Start the engine, and turn the steering wheel several times
fully in both directions till and add oil till the specified level.
CAUTION:
Do not keep the steering wheel turned at the
maximum position for more than 10 seconds.
NOTE:
Uncompleted air purging will entail froth within the
tank and harsh sounds when turning the steering wheel.
7) Check there are no oil leaks through linkages or connections.
8) Install the tank cap, close the hood, bring down the vehicle
from the trestle and try it.
