instructions from the cabinet manufacturer.
Prerequisites and Guidelines
When rack-mounting a shelf:
l Verify the shelf, rack, and rack position with the installation or cabling plan before
beginning.
l Plan your rack space accordingly. Avoid mounting shelves in an overly congested
rack.
o
SH12 requires 12U (533.40 mm [21.00 in.]) of space
o
SH4R and FD-128D requires 4U (177.80 mm [7.00 in.]) of space
o
FMT/1HU requires 1U (44.45 mm [1.75 in.]) of space
l Ensure that there is enough space (behind and on either side of the rack) for you to
move freely while rack-mounting the shelf.
l Do not allow space between shelves in a rack.
EQUIPMENT DAMAGE MAY RESULT IF:
A SH4R is installed in a two-post rack. The depth and weight of a
populated shelf may cause structural and mounting bracket damage,
as well as its instability may cause it to fall and become damaged.
The SH4R must only be installed in a four-post rack (with the guide
rail kit).
