Inspecting the FSP 3000 C Equipment
You need to verify your shipment contents and check the FSP 3000 C equipment for any
visible damage.
This procedure assumes that your shelf shipped empty.
1. Attach a ground strap to your wrist and snap the ground wire to the wrist band. Insert
the ground plug into the grounded ESD jack.
2. Check the FSP 3000 C equipment for shipping damage or missing items. Make note
if any are identified.
3. Remove the front cover from the shelf and lay it aside (if applicable).
4. If applicable, check inside the shelf to determine that
o
No foreign bodies are present between pins on the backplane connectors;
o
No pins on the backplane connectors are bent or broken; and
o
No backplane connector on the shelf is damaged in any way.
5. If the shelf will not be installed immediately
o
For the SH12 and SH4R, reinstall the front cover and cover the shelf with the
ESD protective bag.
o
For the all other shelves, place it back into the unit box and close the box by
putting the cover on top. Proceed to Step 12
Do not destroy or discard the ESD protective bag. Fold together and save
it along with the other packaging material for reuse later.
6. Carefully unpack each module and place it on a static-dissipative mat.
7. Compare the modules you received to your order. Report any discrepancies to ADVA
Optical Networking immediately.
8. Inspect each module visually
o
Carefully check the plug-in board connector of the module for dirt, any
deformation in the pin holes shape, and damage to the outside.
o
Check the EMI shielding gasket on the faceplate edges for damage.
o
Check for any impurities present on the module. If necessary, use canned, dry,
oil-free compressed air to blow off any impurities.
Leave the modules on the mat until you are ready to install them.
