Power
A centralized power supply architecture is supported. The PSM-AC4s convert the
external AC power to internal 12 VDC which is distributed to all modules via the
backplane.
The PSM-AC4s work in a redundancy configuration, supplying the required power to the
shelf in a load-sharing mode. If one of the PSM-AC4s fails, the remaining PSM-AC4s
continue supplying power to the entire shelf. This action enables the replacement of the
failed PSM-AC4.
The following redundant configurations are supported:
l 1+1 Two PSM-AC4s (slots 35 and 36)
l 2+1 Three PSM-AC4s (slots 35, 36, and 37)
The SH4R also supports the following non-redundant configurations:
l 1+0 One PSM-AC4 (slot 35)
l 2+0 Two PSM-AC4s (slots 35 and 36)
The AC power cables are connected directly to the front of the power supply at the rear
side of the shelf.
