Replacing a PSM-DC
This procedure assumes that:
l The shelf has been properly grounded and mounted in the rack; and
l The replacement module has been unpacked and properly inspected.
1. Verify that you are properly grounded with an anti-static wrist strap or heel strap
connected to the grounded ESD jack.
2. If mounted, remove the front cover from the shelf as described in Removing and
Installing Front Covers.
3. Use a Torx T10 screwdriver to unscrew the retaining screw from the PSM-DC.
4. Grasp the handle and slowly slide the PSM-DC away from the shelf until the Mod
LEDis unlit.
5. Continue removing the PSM-DC completely from the shelf.
6. Place the malfunctioning PSM-DC on a static-dissipative mat.
7. Hold the replacement PSM-DC upright with the faceplate toward you.
8. Insert the PSM into the appropriate slot.
9. Gently apply pressure to the faceplate while pushing the module into the slot.
10. Push on the faceplate to fully seat the module. The module is completely inserted
when its faceplate is flush with the faceplates of the adjacent modules and the shelf
panels.
11. When the PSM-DC is inserted completely, hand tighten the retaining screw to
prevent inadvertent dislodging.
12. Use a Torx T10 screwdriver to gently tighten the retaining screw as needed. Do not
overtighten.
13. The Mod LED of the PSM-DC should turn green, indicating that the units are
functioning properly.
If the Mod LED of the PSM-DC is off, then no power is being supplied to
the unit. In case of an error, the power LED turns red. For troubleshooting
information, see the FSP 3000 C Troubleshooting Guide or contact ADVA
Optical Networking for technical assistance.
14. Reinstall the front cover as described in Removing and Installing Front Covers.
15. Return the defective PSM-DC to ADVA Optical Networkingas described in
