Replacing a PSM
EQUIPMENT DAMAGE MAY RESULT IF:
If you attempt to operate the system with a malfunctioning PSM. If
you encounter any problems with a PSM, simply replace it with a new
one of the same type as soon as possible.
Ensure that you have the replacement PSM available and unpacked before you remove a
PSM from an active shelf. Always replace a PSM immediately to fully restore power
redundancy.
If a replacement PSM is not available, either leave the original PSM in the shelf or remove
it and fill the empty slot with a slot cover until you have the replacement PSM(for
redundant configurations only). When you install a slot cover, verify that the remaining
PSMs are installed in the correct slots for your redundant configuration.
There is no ON/OFF power switch on the PSMs. To disconnect the
supply voltage from the PSM, you need to unplug the power cord on AC
units or cut off the power with the associated circuit breaker to the DC
unit.
ELECTRIC VOLTAGEWARNING
Always assume that a high voltage potential exists within a PSM while
servicing it, even if it is de-energized and disconnected from its power
source.
