Installing a Module Slot Cover 225
The shelves must never be operated with open or empty slots. Slots not
in use must be filled with slot covers to maintain proper cooling for all
other modules.
Required Tools and Equipment
l ESD-preventive wrist strap or other personal grounding device
l Appropriate slot cover
l Slot Covers
l FSP 3000 C General Safety Guidelines and Warnings
Installing a Module Slot Cover
This procedure assumes that:
l The shelf is properly grounded to the rack; and
l The shelf has been properly inspected.
1. Verify that you are properly grounded with an anti-static wrist strap or heel strap
connected to the grounded ESDjack.
2. Hold the slot cover by the thumb screws with the faceplate toward you.
3. Align the cover edges with the guides of the appropriate shelf slot.
4. Push on the faceplate to fully seat the slot cover.
