Replacing a Pluggable Transceiver 296
Adhere to the cautions and warnings throughout this document for a
safe and hazard-free installation. Personnel must understand and
apply the safety guidelines provided in this document. In addition, the
safety notices on the equipment labels should be strictly followed.
In an ambient temperature less than 40°C (104°F), modules must be
replaced within one minute of failure.
Use care when installing modules in a shelf. Ensure the modules are
properly aligned with the appropriate slot guides. Do not force a
module into a slot or onto the backplane connectors. If you are having
problems installing a module without using excessive force, stop
immediately and contact Technical Services.
Never reach into a vacant shelf slot. Contact with the adjacent
modules or the connectors on the backplane could result in damage
to the equipment. Exposed circuitry could also constitute an energy
hazard.
Risk of electromagnetic disturbances!
Be careful not to damage the EMI shielding gasket on the module
faceplate edges when inserting it into the slot. Otherwise EMC
compliance cannot be achieved.
Before you start any of these procedures, read the entire section for
important information. For complete safety and compliance information,
see PART 6: SAFETY GUIDELINES.
