Replacing a CEM
18. When the ECM-2 is inserted completely, hand tighten the thumb screws to prevent
inadvertent dislodging.
19. Use a Torx T10 screwdriver to gently tighten the thumb screws. Do not overtighten.
20. Reconnect the RJ-45 Management port, if necessary.
21. Reconnect the RJ-45 Serial port, if necessary.
22. Reconnect the USB port, if necessary.
23. The node enters DB-Maintenance mode. Please refer to the FSP 3000 C
Troubleshooting Guide to recover the node.
24. Check the module LEDs to ensure they are operating correctly. For LEDinformation,
see the FSP 3000 C Troubleshooting Guide.
25. Reinstall the front cover as described in Removing and Installing Front Covers.
26. Return the defective ECM-2 to ADVA Optical Networking as described in Returning
Equipment
If the replacement ECM-2 does not work or the LEDs are not responding
as expected, remove and reinstall it. If it still does not work, immediately
install another replacement.

A malfunctioning CEM can be replaced while the shelf is in service. It is
recommended to have a spare CEMavailable at all times.
Required Tools and Equipment
l ESD-preventive wrist strap or other personal grounding device
l Suitable grounded surface or a static-dissipative mat
l Appropriate CEM for FSP 3000 C shelf
