Shelf Lifting and Moving Guidelines
Shelf Lifting and Moving Guidelines
An empty SH12 shelf weighs approximately 30 kg (66.14 lbs), and an empty SH4R
weighs approximately 12 kg (26.46 lbs). With modules installed, the shelf weighs more.
Observe the following guidelines for lifting and moving an FSP 3000 C shelf:
l Before moving a shelf, check the Site Preparation Checklist to verify that the intended
site meets the specified power, environmental, and clearance requirements.
l Never attempt to lift a fully configured FSP 3000 C shelf by yourself.
l Do not attempt to lift a shelf by yourself. Using a mechanical lift to maneuver the shelf
into a rack is recommended. If a lift cannot be used, a minimum of three people are
required to lift a larger shelf and a minimum of two people are required to lift a smaller
shelf. You should remove any components from the chassis before lifting.
l Before lifting or moving a shelf, disconnect all external cables.
l As when lifting and transporting a heavy object:
o
Lift most of the weight with your legs rather than your back.
o
Keep your knees bent, your back relatively straight and avoid twisting your body.
o
Balance the load evening and be sure that our footing is solid.
o
Walk slowly.
o
Let your legs do the work when you are setting down the shelf on a smooth surface.
o
Do not release your grip until the shelf is secure.
l To prevent damage to the shelf and components, never attempt to lift the shelf by the
handles, fiber tray or connectors on the front of the shelf. These components are not
designed to support the weight of the shelf.
LIFTINGHAZARD CAUTION
FSP 3000 C shelves are heavy. To avoid personal injury and damage to
the shelf, ADVA Optical Networking recommends having at least two
people to lift and mount the shelf into the rack.
