Mounting the SH12 Shelf to a Rack
3. Install two or four cage nuts in the corresponding holes on both sides of the rack.
4. If there is a terminal connector used for the ground point preinstalled in your rack,
skip this step and proceed to the next step. Otherwise, locate and clip the cage nut to
the right mounting rail on the back side of the rack for the grounding cable to be
attached.
5. Mount the shelf to the rack:
a. With a person on each side, lift the shelf to the bay and position it in the rack so
that the bracket holes on each side are aligned with the rack mounting holes or
the cage nuts.
b. Use a Pozidriv screwdriver and 2 Pozi screws to attach the left mounting bracket
to the rack.
c. Use a Pozidriv screwdriver and 2 Pozi screws to attach the right mounting
bracket to the rack.
EQUIPMENT DAMAGE MAY RESULT IF:
You lift the shelf by inserting your hands into the shelf. Lift from the
outside of the shelf to avoid damage.
While positioning the shelf into the rack, keep hold of the grounding cable,
which is attached on the shelf’s right side or reverse side, to not
inadvertently jam it.
6. Attach the other end of the grounding cable to the cage nut affixed in Step 4 or to the
preinstalled terminal connector used for the ground point on the rack to ensure
adequate grounding for the shelf.
7. Use a Pozidriv screwdriver and the appropriate screw/washer or a screw (for the
preinstalled terminal connector) to secure the grounding cable to the rack.
8. Use a multimeter to test the grounding connection. The continuity between the shelf
and the rack’s ground point should measure zero Ohms of resistance.
ELECTRIC VOLTAGEWARNING
Testing the grounding connection must be performed only by
service personnel or a qualified/licensed electrician.
9. Repeat this procedure for installing additional shelves in the rack.
