Default Setting

Command Mode
Interface Configuration (VLAN)
Command Usage
To fully enable PIM-DM, multicast routing needs to be enabled globally
for the router with the ip multicast-routing command
(page 1104), PIM-DM enabled globally for the router with the router
pim dense-mode command (page 1123), and also PIM-DM enabled
for each interface that will participate in multicast routing with the ip
pim dense-mode command.
If PIM is enabled on an interface, IGMP should also enabled on that
interface.
Dense-mode interfaces are subject to multicast flooding by default, and
are only removed from the multicast routing table when the router
determines that there are no group members or downstream routers, or
when a prune message is received from a downstream router.
