FLYWHEEL CHECK AND GEAR RING
REPLACEMENT
Gear ring check and replacement
1) Remove flywheel (see 6A-39 ó 6A-42)
2) Check clutch disc support face. If any scratch or ridge, repair
it.
3) Inspect surface marked ( ) (common rail engine); for
scratches or ridges; it any, replace flywheel (2).
Installation
1) Clean gear ring contact surface.
2) Heat new gear ring (1) to about 150 ºC for 15´÷ 20´.
WARNING:
Protect hands using gloves during gear ring
installation.
3) Install gear ring on flywheel facing inner beveled diameter
towards inside and fit ring to the end of flywheel.
4) Go on with installation, reversing removal procedure, noting
to tighten to specified torque (see 6A-39/6A-42).
