6A-56 ENGINE REPAIR
• Using a micrometer, check diameter of screws fixing the
cylinder head. Nowhere in the threaded part should be
measured less than 11.5 mm; otherwise replace them.
• Turn camshaft till the valves of cylinder n°1 are closed. To
confirm this is so, fix provisionally plungers cover (35) on
cylinder head and align mark (A) of gear with signal (B) at
the plungers cover.
Without changing this position proceed to installation of
cylinder head.
• Install cylinder head, put screws and tighten them to the
specified tightening torque as specified; follow the
prescribed order indicated in the drawing.
Tightening torque for screws of cylinder head:
• 1
st
phase; pretighten 6 ± 0,5 Kg-m (60 ± 5 Nm)
• 2
nd
phase; recheck torque of 6 ± 0,5 Kg-m (60 ± 5 Nm)
• 3
rd
phase; angular tightening 180º ± 10º

• Install cylinder head gasket on cylinders block orientig
word "ALTO" upwards (towards cylinder head).
NOTE:
The arrow indicates the point where the specified
thickness of gasket was read.
CAUTION:
The gasket should be kept properly wrapped till the
moment of installation.
