ON-VEHICLE SERVICE
GEAR LEVER AND TRANSFER
Dismantling
Removal gear lever
1) Take off screws front carpet to access to tunnel cover (1)
and remove them.
2) Move bot (2) and the tunnel cover upwards.
3) Remove boot clamp (3).
4) Press case cover (4) and turn it left; extract the gear lever
assembly and boot.

Removal transfer shift lever
5) Remove the lever knob.
6) Raise front carpet to access cover screws (5).
7) Move the boots (6&7) and flange (8) upwards.
8) Remove the three cover screws (9) from lever case.
9) Extract the transfer shift lever assembly and boot.

Inspection
1) Check if there is erosion on the friction zones, lever supports
and cases. Correct and replace them if necessary.
2) Check the boots for breakages and replace if necessary.
3) Check the state of screws, and spring pins (10); replace if
necessary.
4) If screws are removed, apply the recommended sealant to
the thread and tightens to the specifed torque.
Position lever side screws torque:
1,7 Kg-m (17 Nm)
