DIFFERENTIALS 7E-11
8) Check the resistance to turning pulling progressively with
the dynamometer. Such resistance should be within the
specified order. Otherwise, increase the thickness of
supplements (11) to decrease the resistance or reduce
thickness to increase resistance.
Resistance to turning of the engaging pinion (without
oil seal):
13 ÷ 15,2 Kg-m (130 ÷ 152 Nm)
NOTE:
When the resistance to turning of the pinion decreases
preloading of the rolling components decreases, too.
When the resistance to turning increases, preloading
of the rolling components increases, too.

9) Install calibrating tool (C) ref. 193349.
NOTE:
For the rear group use calibrating tool ref. 262761.
10) Evaluate the play between the fixed calliper and the mobile
one using gauges (D) and proceeds as follows:
• If the pinion is at the zero position (0), add underneath trail
(18) of the pinion head a certain amount of washers making
up for the distance measured with calliper (D).
• If the pinion is marked with the (+) sign, supplement trail
(18) by as much as the measure resulting from subtracting
to the (D) measure , the engraved figure after the sign.
Example:
• Measure (D)= (0.30).
• Engraving on the pinion (+0.20).
• Supplement to be added (0. 10); 0.30-0.20=0.10.
• If the pinion is marked with (?) sign, supplement trail (18)
with the measuring resulting from adding to the measure
arrived at with (D), the engraved figure after the sign.
Ejemplo:
• Measure (D)= (0.30).
• Engraving on the pinion (-0.20).
• Supplement to bed added (0.50); 0.30+0.20=0.50.

NOTE:
Keep the preloading of rolling elements of the
engaging pinion adding or subtracting supplements
(11) identical to those evaluated as supplements (19)
for the rolling trail of the bearing head.
