Troubleshooting
Introduction The preamplifier portion of the pH monitor controls and provides information
regarding the pH levels. Refer to the following troubleshooting information as
required.
Troubleshooting table If any of these error conditions exist, contact Electrovert customer service to
schedule repair/replacement of the pH monitor assembly:
Error Condition Possible Cause Possible Remedy
With Simulator
Connected
mV output stuck at
zero.
Shorted input signal.
Check preamplifier cable
connections and shielding.
mV output erratic.
Fault preamplifier or
wiring.
Verify preamplifier shield
connections. Verify cable shield
wire maintained through all
cable splices.
mV output stuck at 1.4
VDC.
Faulty preamplifier. Replace preamplifier.
OK with Simulator
Connected – Fails
with Electrode
mV output stuck at
zero.
Cracked electrode glass. Replace electrode.
mV output erratic.
Poor control between
electrode and
preamplifier connectors.
Check contacts between
electrode and preamplifier and
ensure they are clean and dry.
Fouled electrode
reference or aged
electrode.
Clean electrode.
Ground loop.
Isolate electrode in test beaker.
If output is stable, ground loops
may cause erratic behavior.
Isolate instrument outputs.
mV output stuck at 1.4
VDC.
Faulty preaplifier. Replace preamplifier.
